He has a Master's degree in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain) obtained in 2010 and an Official Master's degree in Territorial and Population Studies, mention in Territorial Management in the same university obtained in 2011.

He has worked in most professional fields of geography, standing out in the area of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), handling ESRI platform software (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcView, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, ArcExplorer) as well as the use of other important programs such as QGIS, MapInfo, gvSIG, Erdas, Idrisi, Global Mapper, Google Earth and AutoCad. Most of his work experiences have been focused on the application of Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing in all kinds of disciplines (digital cartography, spatial analysis, ecology, conservation, geomarketing, land management, environmental impact studies, demography, engineering, geology, geomorphology, cadastre, social studies, among many others), generating a large number of products, ranging from spatial analytical proposals and applications to digital thematic cartography.

Efraín Porto Tapiquén has also worked in the area of risk management applying Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing as part of risk management and spatialization. Additionally, and within the wide spectrum of geography and spatial sciences, he has acquired experience in field surveys with the use of high precision topography equipment (total stations and differential GPS) especially applied to urban cadastre.

Finally, Efraín Porto Tapiquén has significant experience in the area of training and research, with participation in scientific publications. He currently teaches courses on Geographic Information Systems at both basic and advanced levels and applied, nationally and internationally, in person and/or online, especially with QGIS and ArcGIS.
